Tokens & plans
How the Aegis token system works.
How it works
Encrypting one file costs 1 token (configurable by the admin). Tokens are deducted per successful encryption, and the file is stored in your history so you can re-download it later for free.
You get tokens by buying a plan or redeeming a key. Plans are monthly or one-time, each carrying a token amount and a buy URL — clicking Buy now sends you to the checkout URL the admin configured. Redeem keys are codes like AEGIS-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX that grant a fixed token amount.
Redeeming a key
- Open the account page (or the dashboard).
- Paste the code into the redeem field and press Redeem.
- Tokens are added to your balance instantly. Each key can be single-use or limited-use.
Your plan
Your account page shows your current plan, expiry date, remaining days and token balance. When your plan expires, tokens already granted stay in your balance until you spend them. To keep encrypting, renew your plan — the renew button takes you straight to your plan's checkout link.
Running out of tokens
When your balance is below the encryption cost, the encrypt API returns 402 and the dashboard shows the missing amount. Top up via a plan or redeem key — your history stays available either way.
